Jr Hi 2 Camp Finished

Hey Everyone,

We have come to the end of our Jr Hi 2 week of camp and it was a great time with these campers! This week we had a 124 campers between the ages of 12-14 and they had so much fun with all the activities. There were some kids that were feeling homesick and some went home while others held on to the end. The campers had fun in all their skills and the wide games and night games this week. This was our fullest camp of the summer and we enjoyed having them here, learning about God's love and the way He has equipped us to stand against the enemy. One of my favourite things to hear each week is the memorization that happens after breakfast each day. Campers are encouraged to memorize some scripture and later in the week they go around to other teams and share their memorized piece of scripture with all the actions. If you are outside or even in the office (like me), you can hear many campers reciting their verses loudly!

Kelly Taylor led these campers through the Armour of God during chapel times. He talked about each piece of the armour and how it equips us to fight against the enemy and also to spread the Gospel of Jesus to others. He encouraged the campers to be reading God's Word daily, to encourage and build up each other instead of tearing others down, and to respect those around them. The campers responded well in chapel times, with Kelly getting them to come up and read scripture during chapel times. Pray for these young teenagers as they go home. That they would put on the Armour of God and stand firm as they head into school soon and at home.

Next Week: Junior 3

Sunday, August 18th is the beginning of our last week of camp! The summer has gone by so quickly and we are so thankful for the great year it has been with our campers. This week we have 70 campers between the ages of 8-11 coming to camp. The schedule is very much the same as always and we look forward to having a great time with theses campers!

Our speaker is Noah Wieler from Humboldt, SK. This is Noah's second summer speaking at Stoney and we are excited to have him share with us this week! Noah and his wife Becky are serving as the Associate Pastor of the Humboldt Bible Church. Pray for him as he shares in our chapel times. Pray that God's truth would be spoken clearly and these young campers would respond with honest hearts. Pray for our cabin leaders as they share in their cabin devotional times as well.

Our volunteers are: Neal Alsbach, Darcy Alsbach, William Whatley - cooks; Michelle Hunter - Nurse; Abbie Cannon & Anders Hunter - volunteers

Our LIT's this week: Cadence Martens, Naomi Branscombe, Kamryn Wiens, Robyn Spratt, Jada Yaskow, Calista Taylor, Abby Stead, Katie Richardson, Madelyn Guggenheimer, Josiah Gustafson & Johnny Schultz

Prayer Requests

Camp is a very busy place, and all our staff are working together as a community to serve God in sharing the Gospel to our campers. We can't do this on our own, we need God's help and guidance to achieve this great task He entrusted us with. Would you help us in praying for our staff, campers, and volunteers? Here are some prayer requests and praise items you can pray for:

  • We are thankful for the many campers that are signed up for camp this summer! This is our last week of camp so please pray for our staff as they will be heading into college, careers, and other activities in the fall. Pray that they would finish off this summer strong with God's strength.
  • Pray for our cabin leaders and LIT's.
  • Pray for our summer leadership team. Pray for Emma, our program director. Pray for her health and safety. Pray that she will get the rest she needs when she needs it, and that she will grow in her faith this summer. Pray for Jason & Pam Kellington our Senior Staff Supervisors. Pray for them as they lead the staff in discipleship over the summer.
  • Pray for our campers. Pray that there would be no accidents, or sickness happen. Pray that they would come to know their Savior here at Stoney.
  • Pray for Jay & Jen as they lead the team this summer.
