Squirt Camp Finished

Hey Everyone,

We are just finishing up our three days with our Squirt campers and it was a wonderful week with them! These little guys are so excited to try everything, with wide eyes and wonder on their faces! The cabin leaders and LIT's have fun this week getting them from one place to the next but have so much fun with their campers. We take the campers through a rotation of skills where they get to try a bit of each one, and later when they come to a Junior camp they can decide which 3 they liked the most for their skills. They enjoyed pontoon boat rides, the Stoney train (which sounds like a roller coaster ride with all their screams of delight!), the petting barn with all the animals, kayking, bouncy castles, the climbing wall and a whole lot more!

We had a wonderful time in chapel times singing songs and hearing from our chapel speaker Kelly Rempel and her puppet friend "Noodles" the sloth. The campers enjoyed when Noodles came out of his box to speak with them telling God's story to them. Kelly talked about how God created the earth and all that is in it for His glory. She talked about God's plan for us and for our redemption by sending his son Jesus. The chapel times were very interactive and exciting for the campers to follow along with great questions to be asked in their cabin devo times as well. Pray for these little campers as they go home. We sometimes forget that these little guys may not understand the truth that is being shared, but they do see us as leaders and how we act and serve here at camp. Pray for them as they at home, that what they learned here at camp may resonate in their hearts and take root.

Next Week: Jr Hi 2

Starting Sunday, we have our second Jr Hi week of camp. We have 125 campers between the ages of 12-14 coming next week. The schedule is back to our regular programming with 3 skills and night games. We have been taking a break for the last two weeks with different schedules, so pray for our staff as we get back into the regular routine of camp. We are nearing the end of our summer, so pray for perseverance and strength for our leaders as they finish these two weeks strong, boldly sharing the Gospel to their campers.

Our speaker is Kelly Taylor from Kinistino, SK. This is Kelly's second summer speaking at Stoney and we are excited to have him share with us this week! Pray for him as he shares in our chapel times. Pray that God's truth would be spoken clearly and the young teens would respond with honest hearts. Pray for our cabin leaders as they share in their cabin devotional times as well. These young teens can struggle with so much in our world today, pray that they would find their value and purpose in Jesus Christ and know His plan for their lives.

Our volunteers are: Sheena Shepley, Arlene Schmidt, Ruth Cressman - cooks; Angie Taylor - Nurse; Harman Makkar - volunteer; Sam Lewis - maintenance help

Our LIT's this week: Robyn Spratt, Chloe Martens, Noelle Taylor, Cadence Martens, Katie Richardson, Johnny Schultz

Some of our senior LIT's will be leading in a cabin this week as well: Elias Kellington, Naomi Branscombe & Bella Healey

Prayer Requests

Camp is a very busy place, and all our staff are working together as a community to serve God in sharing the Gospel to our campers. We can't do this on our own, we need God's help and guidance to achieve this great task He entrusted us with. Would you help us in praying for our staff, campers, and volunteers? Here are some prayer requests and praise items you can pray for:

  • We are thankful for the many campers that are signed up for camp this summer! We are nearing the end of our summer of ministry. Pray for our staff as they will be heading into college, careers, and other activities in the fall. Pray that they would finish off this summer strong with God's strength.
  • Pray for our cabin leaders and LIT's.
  • Pray for our summer leadership team. Pray for Emma, our program director. Pray for her health and safety. Pray that she will get the rest she needs when she needs it, and that she will grow in her faith this summer. Pray for Jason & Pam Kellington our Senior Staff Supervisors. Pray for them as they lead the staff in discipleship over the summer.
  • Pray for our campers. Pray that there would be no accidents, or sickness happen. Pray that they would come to know their Savior here at Stoney.
  • Pray for Jay & Jen as they lead the team this summer.
  • Pray for Tracy & Paddy Reed.  Tracy is our Facility Manager and Paddy is the Kitchen Coordinator.
  • Pray for Jesse & Stephanie Alsbach. Jesse is our Associate Director and Stephanie is the Administrative Assistant.
  • Pray for Gabe and Hannah Clifford as our LIT Directors.
