Hi Everyone,
Our first week of camp is only 9 days away - its coming fast! We have had a busy spring so far:
- The first staff members came the beginning of May to set up and get the camp ready.
- The first part of our senior staff training took place on the May long weekend - it was a great weekend to get to know each other and prepare for the summer.
- During the month of June, we have had 28 schools here for our school day rental program with a total of 723 students! We also had two weekend rentals - Melfort Girl Guides came with 49 girls and the Tisdale Alliance Church had their family camp.
- The camp has had its spring face-lift - grass cut (several times!), buildings cleaned and freshly painted, and the climbing wall got a new coat of paint.
- We added a new skill - Axe Throwing!
- We have several new additions - a new storage shed by the shop, 8 kittens and a mother cat, 2 goats, 3 pigs, 2 adult rabbits and some babies, 2 calves, and a bunch of little chicks!
Summer Staff
You can see who our staff are for the summer on our Staff Page! Click on the button below to see all of the staff.
Please pray for the staff as they minister and serve in their various roles this summer:
- Freedom for the Spirit to work in the lives of the campers and staff.
- Please pray for their ministry to their campers through the devotions and Bible studies they lead in the cabins as well as the times they spend with their campers around the camp.
- Pray for their relationships with their fellow staff members that God would grant unity to the staff.
- Pray for opportunities for discipleship with their LIT's as well as wisdom in how to work with and teach the junior staff member.
- Twice daily the campers attend chapel. Pray for the speakers and for the discussion that may come from the chapel message afterwards.
- Pray for health and safety, energy, enthusiasm, patience, wisdom and discernment.
- Quality time spent in personal devotions and prayer.
- The Holy Spirit’s guidance, gifts and fruit developed daily.
July Staff Training
The second half of our staff training starts on Saturday, June 29 @ 5:00. Our senior cabin leaders, leadership staff and LITs (Leaders in Training) will be here. Staff training will end on Thursday, July 4th.
This year we have 19 LITs under the leadership of Jack and Kerstyn Liddle.
It has become a tradition to have the Stoney board members come for one evening to meet the senior staff: they come for supper then play a ball game (its debatable who wins at those games) and then a time of sharing and prayer. It is always a fun time. This year it will take place on Wednesday evening.
Please Pray:
- Pray for the training that the staff would learn well and be prepared for the summer.
- Pray for those who will coming in to teach the doctrine sessions to the staff - for wisdom and clarity as they teach and that the information taught wouldn't just be intellectual knowledge but transformative to the lives and faith of the staff as they will be teaching this to the campers.
- Pray for staff unity and good times together.
- Pray for Jay as he leads this second staff training.
- Pray for Jack and Kerstyn who will be leading the LIT training for the first time.
- Pray for the ministry opportunity we will have as the senior staff leads some games on July 1 at Kipabiskau Regional Park for the kids. Pray that many would be interested in coming to camp this summer.
More Praise & Prayer
Praise for how well the spring went: the many school groups, the work that was accomplished and the great staff who helped get things ready!
Pray for our leadership team. That God would grant wisdom and guidance in every decision that needs to be made this summer.
Pray for more campers - we have spots available in every camp.
Pray for the speakers and staff as they prepare for the summer.
Pray for the campers who are registered that God would prepare their hearts for the Gospel message they will hear this summer.
Pray that above all that the staff would live out Stoney's mission statement - To present and promote the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ - whether that is at camp or away from camp.
Thanks for Praying
Thanks in advance for praying for Stoney. If you have further questions or would like to know how to pray more, check out the website or our Facebook page. We will post pictures each week of the things that are happening. And you are always welcome to contact the camp - I am always ready to answer your questions and give you updates.
Blessings!
