Our summer has come to an end. It was not at all what we expected, but we made good use of the time to make some new changes and update our facility and the grounds. And in between, we were able to have a few fun days with rentals and having some guests at camp.
Henry Lucas Day!
One of our camper families, Jeff and Riki Lucas, have a very special little boy named Henry. He has a very rare condition that does not allow him to attend camp like the rest of our campers. His one wish this year was to come to Stoney for a week. When we had to cancel our programming, the Lucas’s reached out and asked if they could still come for a day. We decided to plan something bigger! We put on a special day camp for Henry and his family and friends. We set the day up just like a regular day at Stoney. The kids got to go on a train ride, kayak, go on the pontoon boat, play games in the field, and a slip ‘n slide at the beach. We invited Glenda Lees to come and speak at our chapel, and we sang all of Henry’s favorite worship songs! Henry had a smile on his face the entire day and it was a blessing to all of us to help make the day so special to him and his family.
Projects We Accomplished
We worked on a few big projects and then some smaller renovations. The renovations included building change rooms in all the cabins that didn’t have one yet, painting and renovating the inside of the work crew cabins, building a coffee nook in the dining hall to replace the one by the sinks in the kitchen, fences and renovations at the barn, and making the space for the kayaks and canoes larger by the beach. We built a swing pavilion (pictured below) that has a fire pit in the middle, a new work crew lounge which is right between the two work crew cabins, we tore down the old Cabin 11 and moved the trailer by the dining hall to a new location, and Jay had some friends visit and volunteer to build our new kayak racks (pictured below). The old cabin 11 and the trailer was cleared to make space for a possible outdoor basketball court. We are working towards building this in the future. Besides all the building, we did lots of painting, cleaning, organizing, and mowing grass to keep the grounds looking great.

Prayer and Praise
God has been so good to us this summer, by providing the funds we needed to hire staff. Praise God for all the grants that we applied for and received to be able to do all the work we did. We are so thankful for His provisions and for your support in prayer. Here are some requests that we have:
1. Pray for our 4 staff members as they head out to their schools and homes.
2. Pray for us and the camps in Saskatchewan. That we will be able to run our programs next summer and that we will get some clear answers and guidelines to how that will look.
3. Pray for the upcoming transition of Directorship. At the end of September, Jay will take over as Director of Stoney, and Doug will become the site manager.
4. Our climbing wall needs some work done. The frost lifted one side of the wall up a bit, so it is unsafe to use. We are working to get this fixed, but please pray for safety as they work.
Thank you for supporting Stoney with your prayers!
Financial Support
If you would like to support Stoney financially, please call our office (306) 873-5537, and we will help you make your donation. We accept credit, cheques, and e-transfers. We also have the option of becoming a monthly donor of $30 or more. All you need to do to set this up is call our office, have your banking information to set up the automatic withdrawal, and tell us which day you want your donation to come out each month (either the 1st or 15th).
We are so thankful for your prayers and support to the camp and its ministry. Our prayer is to have the program up and running next summer so we can see you all again!
Many Blessings!
